Latest News from Superlambanana Hunt

Oh Mandy!

This is a call to all you hunters out there to let you know that currently we only need two more pictures to complete our set. Urbanasplash (100) is not going to be installed until after the 26th August, and so we hope to get our photo then, however we are still waiting on Mandy “Mandala Superlambanana”. Mandy (110) was originally located on Princes Boulevard, but after a spell with the supervets is now based at Berkeley Place, Upper Parliament Street, and she is yet to be spotted by us or one of you fellow hunters out there. So please, if you see her, send us your photos, we don’t want her to be left out!

Lovemedoodle Returns Home

We are pleased to report that Lovemedoodle (117) has finally managed to get a ticket and get on a train from Euston Station, and is now in Liverpool where he rightly belongs. He is based at Lime Street and no doubt will be continuing his favourite pastime of train spotting!

Damaged Lambs

As you are aware the GoSuperlambananas event is drawing to a close, and regrettably a few of our lambie friends are not around to see to end of the event. “Peek-a-boo” Newsham Superlambanana (84) and Cobanana (94) are both currently being attended too by the Supervets and will not be back in time for the 25th August.

However Bridge-It (92) can still be seen whilst she is being cared for by the Supervets and is currently residing at the Clubmoor Youth Centre.

Welsh Lamb

Well done to all you superlambanana hunters who travelled to North Wales over the weekend and walked up Moel Famau to see the Highest Superlambana. It looks like the event was a great success, and the lambanana certainly looks like he is enjoying the beautiful views.

A possible return for the Superlambs next year?

The Go Superlambanana event has been a huge success in Liverpool, and whilst we all prepare for the flock to leave us on the 26th August, talks are already in place to see if the event can be repeated next year. Phil Redmond, member of the Capital of Culture team to the Liverpool Echo “the Superlambananas have been such a success this year that we want to try to find ways to see if we can do it again next year.” However with the current group of lambananas being auctioned off for the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal on September 9th, any future lambananas may be completely new ones altogether. Fingers crossed that this plan can be put into action, and it just maybe that each year we have a fresh superlambanana hunt to do and a new set of hunters to introduce the “lambies” too!

3 New lambs added to the flock

The ever growing number of Superlambanana’s has increased yet again with 3 new lambananas. Springy and Happy Feet are both sponsored by Liverpool City Council and represent numbers 124 and number 125 on the official hunt, whilst Roversbanana based at Tranmere Rovers is no 123.

Calling all Superlambanana hunters!

We have now have the ability to accept photographs from all you fellow lambanana hunters, and if we like your shot then we will happily add it to our ever-growing collection. So why don’t you all look through your snaps and send them to us, just go to the page dedicated to that lambanana and click “submit” and you can be a part of this great hunt!

SLB’s on the move again

We advised you earlier that Koppy (no 44) was being treated by the Supervets, we are pleased to announce that he is back feeling better and can currently be seen shopping in the new Liverpool FC flagship store in Liverpool One Koppy’s Williamson Square buddy SuperWagBagBanana (43) has also been on the move and is now located in Houghton Street – between the stairwells of Radio City and St John’s Shopping Centre, maybe she is hoping to get herself on the radio?

Tiger Woods goes to the Open

It was reported many months ago that Tiger Woods would be unable to attend this year’s Open Golf Championhip at Royal Birkdale, however he has found his way there in the form of a new lambanana! A striking, colourful lambanana has been sighted near the Pontins roundabout in Southport, and is certainly as popular as his American namesake.

Criminals Beware

The streets of Liverpool are safer now due to a new member of the prison system. Both Sides of the Baas is a new lambanana guard at the front of the HMP in Walton. However he may need to keep a watch out closer to home, as whilst one side of the lambanana is a guard the other is a prisoner!

Lambanana found in London

Lovemedoodle (number 117) has been spotted in the Big Smoke of London, waiting at Euston station however he appears to have missed his train back to Liverpool. He is currently waiting at the platform for the next train to Lime Street however if he doesn’t have a ticket will he be let on the train?

Mystery Solved

We have been informed that the mystery lambanana below is actually called Superlambswoolbanana and is number 120 on the ever growing list of lambananas to find.

Mystery Banana

Who is that lambanana? An intriguing new lambanana has been spotted near the Crowne Plaza and it is not on the official trail map, so where has it come from and what is its name? We will have to keep an eye on this lambanana and as soon as we know anything more, we will let you know!

Mystery Banana

Superlambanana Roamer

A fundraising event has been arranged by Vinvolved on Saturday 2nd August challenging people to hunt and photograph themselves with as many superlambananas as possible.

Vinvolved is the national youth volunteering charity set up to inspire a new generation of 16-25 year olds to get involved in volunteering and community action.

Each pair of lambanana hunters will be supplied with bus passes, maps, lunch, T-shirts and disposable cameras to assist them in their hunt. Once the photos are developed, the winners will be announced and prizes will include a small superlambanana worth £100 generously donated by Wild in Art.

The event has been organised to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care, which is a great worthwhile charity. Please note that you will need to raise a minimum of £15 in sponsorship to be able to enter this event.

This event will start at 10am, and is being covered by Radio City and the Liverpool Echo, and so why not participate?

If you would like further information, then visit Vinvolved website for more details, on www.vliverpool.org.uk.

Moving Home Part 2

Ro G Biv (number 86) has now been given a new home outside the Royal Liver Building on the Strand. It is fitting that this beautiful mosaic lambanana has found its place outside one of the most famous buildings in all of Liverpool.

Koppy (44) is currently being cared for by the Super Vets but we are confident he will be back in Williamson square as soon as possible.

Superlambananatree (52) and Ba Ba Braille Sheep (53) are now based inside Lime Street rather than outside, it’s probably much warmer in there for them!

Graduation

The Supervets have been helping Lambananas all over the city, and one such lambanana to get the treatment was Superstudentlambanana. She had regrettably lost part of her mortar board, and with Graduation week approaching this would obviously be of concern. But thanks to the care of the Supervets, her hat has been carefully restored and she is all set for her graduation this week!

Moving Home

Due to weather conditions a few lambananas have been moving to new locations.

The Reflectana Lambanana, (number 11 on our hunt) is now residing in the window of Debenhams at Liverpool One, rather than at the front of the Liver Building.

Superconebanana (number 81), is now installed at Liverpool Innovation Park, Edge Lane.

The Roy G Biv lambanana (number 86) is now in a safe compound within Stanley Park, but it can still be seen from the distance. There are plans to move the lambanana to another home, but to date this has not been announced.

Superlidbanana (number 93) is currently being cared for by the Supervets and will be back where it belongs on Cedar Road and Longmoor Lane from the 7th July.

Urbanasplash (number 100) will be installed in mid July at the Matchworks.

Stolen Lamb

As you maybe aware a Lambanana statue was stolen from its flock outside Hope Street on Sunday 15th June, and it is still yet to be returned to its rightful home.

The flock of smaller Lambanana statues, named “Herd Days Night” (number 70 on the Lambanana hunt) are based outside the Maghull Developments headquarters, and are wearing hard hats and high visibility jackets.

Since the theft of the Lambanana, Maghull Developments have received ransom demands for its safe return, along with a photograph of the Lambanana supposedly in Blackpool. The Lamb-nappers have apparently asked for 11 innocent lambs and 58 bunches of bananas in exchange for the statue.

Maghull Developments have offered to donate £1,000 to the ECHO’s Liverpool Unites campaign if the statue is returned safely, which is raising money for a community centre in memory of Rhys Jones.

Maghull Developments are not the only company to receive a ransom demand, the Liverpool Echo newspaper has also received a ransom note claiming to be from the Agricultural Students Union and signed by "secretary Bo Peep, somewhere in Woolton".

The note apparently states that the baby lambanana is tied up behind bars, and they have threatened to harm the lambanana if they are not “given unlimited access to every bar in Liverpool city centre for free drinks 24/7 commending on August 1."

We will keep everyone updated as and when any developments in this case of Lamb-napping occurs.
